A Shanklin man who admitted being in possession of 15 indecent images of children, including 5 of the most serious nature, has been handed a suspended prison sentence.
Paul Battman, 58, of Spring Gardens in Shanklin admitted 3x possession of indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child when he appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court back on 19th May 2023.
On that occasion, Liz Miller, prosecuting, told the court that in April 2021, Police were made aware of images of an inappropriate nature that were uploaded to the internet back in January. It was also noted that further uploads were made in March on the social media platform Kik – where Battman had an account.
Police officers then ran checks on the IP address, email address and social media accounts, all of which came back to the 58-year-old.
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary visited Battman’s address in Shanklin were they seized electronic devices.
On these devices a total of 15 images were found, 5x of category A (3 of which were videos), 7x category B and 3x category C.
In Police interview, Battman admitted the offences and admitted he was the only one with access to the photos.
At Tuesday’s sentencing hearing (20th June), and after considering sending off for a report, Judge Saini KC sentenced Battman to 2 years in prison, suspended for 12 months.
The 58-year-old was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for a total of 5 years.
WTF why is he not in prison? How did the justice system allow this scum to still walk the streets. What is going on? Does it take for him to act on his depraved thoughts and behaviour for the law to lock him away????

Several states in the USA have a chemical castration program for child sex offenders, if they don’t agree to it, they don’t get out. It’s a policy the UK should mirror.

Why do these nonces only get suspended prison sentences? Russia is considering compulsory chemical castration for nonces, UK should do the same. Watch the hand wringers and do gooders stop it happening if it ever happened though!

We have a prison that holds them then, when they get released they are put in BnBs or caravan sites &holiday camp, cowes has one in Beckford Road 3 story house..
This makes me sick to my stomach, filth in the first degree and yet the punishment of those poor innocent children will be scared for life with a memory of how they were told it was their fault while the filthy person gets his name on the sex offenders.. I hope he gets his punishment while he’s inside for that fragment of time. Lowest of the low scum.. I despise anyone that can do that to a child of animals….
