SUSPECTED DRUG DRIVER NICKED AFTER ROLLING CAR IN YAVERLAND

A 34-year-old man is under investigation after rolling his BMW onto its roof in Yaverland last night (Wednesday). Police were called at 22:33 to a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision on Yaverland Road, near the roundabout junction with Marshcombe Shute. A white BMW 1-series was found on its roof off the carriageway. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has confirmed that a 34-year-old man from Newport was arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle while unfit through drugs and driving a motor vehicle with a proportion of a specified controlled drug above the specified limit. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue. No injuries were reported.
