An unusual scene was witnessed on the Sandown to Shanklin revetment yesterday (Sunday) after a people carrier become stuck on the sea wall.
The silver Ford Galaxy was being driven along the walkway between the two towns by an unnamed Island man and his wife after their dog ran off due to being spooked by the stormy weather.
Fearing that the much-loved Barney would be swept out to sea, the owner gave chase in his vehicle ending up pivoting on the sea wall with a large drop onto the concrete slipway below.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the incident and Barney was safely found. The vehicle was recovered by a local garage.
