Wightlink has confirmed a number of cancellations on its Yarmouth-Lymington car ferry service tomorrow (Sunday) due to staff absence.
It’s said that an essential member of staff is unavailable which means a total of 6 crossings cannot run.
The 07:30, 09:45 and 12:00 sailings from Lymington have been cancelled, alongside the 08:30, 10:45 and 13:05 sailings from Yarmouth.
Wightlink apologises for any changes to your travel plans.

Beyond a joke. Pathetic.
I thought most large companies train their staff to multi task. Why cannot Wightlink do the same.
It cannot be difficult to steer a boat backwards and forwards
There are members of the crew that require the correct qualifications like the captain which is not just simple training it takes years to get a masters certificate as it does to be a qualified engineer.
Crumbs well i never
plenty of spongers claiming benefits that could be told – there are staff shortages everywhere – get yourself into a job or your benefits are cut to zero.
You can always take the hover and fly lol since when has a hovercraft flown wish Wightlink would find another word it’s laughable their terminology
Actually the hover does fly by skimming across the top of the waves and levitating above the waves, ie flying!
thats what happens when you employ cowboys as management
Why have they been making their crews redundant on this route? To save money, they don’t care about passengers.
It is way overdue that BOTH Wightlink and Red Funnel be taken to task over their policy of absolute minimum staffing levels, in fact, plainly less than minimum staffing levels. The absence of ONE member of staff should never result in the cancellation of multiple services, it is barely acceptable for ONE sailing to be missed due to this excuse!
Wightlink are full of excuses we have no choice Wightlink has got the Monopoly .what is now needed is action
This has got to the stage where nobody believes this excuse any more, any properly run company would have realised this was an issue and put in plans against future occurrences. This is just a pathetic excuse to cut services when boats are not full enough. This isn’t a public service any more , it’s more like a lottery when you book, especially on this route. Robinson Crusoe had a better chance of getting off his island than us Islanders here.
i wrote to the so call MP Bob Seely but he does not care ,and i understand there is a conflict of Interest
This is not unusual ,Wightlink, should have trained standby crew ,in the event of sickenss or any absentee ,what you do not do is remove that vessel from its service , making customers late for their journeys and are very unhappy bunny.
This is why their should always be another company to provide a back up service ,at the moment Wightlink have got the monopoly Wightlink should then think twice about letting down customers ,Wightlink only think about their pockets and also their shareholders
