3 properties on the Isle of Wight are among 105 lots being sold online across southern England by auctioneers Clive Emson in their latest auction.
102A and 102B Adelaide Road in East Cowes is being offered online on Wednesday 24th March with a freehold guide price of £190,000-210,000. Originally known as Grove House and reputedly constructed by master builder WH Brading, the 3-story residential building is located on a corner plot and comprises 2 self-contained vacant flats which require some upgrading and refurbishment.
Rob Marchant, Clive Emson’s Island auctioneer, said:
“Of interest to investor purchasers might be the proximity of the adjoining car repair garage and the longer term potential for perhaps a collaborative redevelopment, subject to consents being obtainable.”
Chalked for renovation, a mid-terrace house at 3 Ocean View Road in Ventnor is guided freehold at £100,000+. It’s said that once renovated, the house would be ideal for an owner-occupier, as a letting or as a weekend retreat holiday home or holiday let.
A 4-bedroom house at 9 Inglewood Road in St Lawrence, Ventnor is guided freehold at £330,000-360,000.
Rob said:
“The property has been in use as a commercial holiday let and if fully furnished and equipped for this use and all the furniture, fixtures and fittings, and even the cutlery, are included in the sale.
“A new owner may wish to continue with a commercial holiday let or perhaps as a second home – and it may well suit full-time owner occupation as well.”
The online auction takes place on Wednesday 24th March, with bidding starting on Monday 22nd March.

St Lawrence or Ventnor are very risky areas to buy property, even being in nice locations.
East Cowes in my opinion is a very depressing place to live, it resembles a rundown inner-city council estate built in the middle of a factory.
No thanks…
The East Cowes property would be ideal as a low rent HMO .. I should imagine 8 bedsits could be made available with such a large floorplan. I might have a look at that one.
I think Bedsits encourage a lower standard…in your mindset, maybe just turn into split level dorm rooms, with multiple bunk beds.. £100 week per person, prob get about 50 in there….
