With this year’s London Marathon cancelled, Islanders Sara Coombes and Laura Holme are instead going to be taking part in their own fundraising event to raise money for the Rob Hill Foundation.
The pair, who are sisters-in-law, will be making their way from Ventnor via Shanklin, Sandown, Brading, Newport and finishing in their hometown of Ryde on Sunday 4th October. They had both hoped to take part in the London Marathon, which has been called off due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With less than 5 weeks training they would love you to give them a toot on the route or give spare change in the boxes they will be carrying with them on the day.
The Rob Hill Foundation offers workshops and an invaluable service, helping people to become free from their addictions and mental health issues as well as helping with fears, phobias, anxieties and panic attacks. All things that are prevalent in the current climate.
Sara, who is the Isle of Wight leader, said:
“I became involved after attending the workshops myself, I’m able to give back and help others who find themselves in a similar situation to me.
“I’ve never walked or run this distance before but I’m really looking forward to doing the challenge and raising vital funds and awareness for this amazing foundation.
“We would love to raise £2,000 for this amazing cause so we can continue to run our free workshops”.
