A single vehicle collision has blocked Newport’s Long Lane this evening (Saturday).
Emergency service personnel were callled to the scene near Buckbury Lane at around 17:00.
At the scene a Renault Clio, which was travelling toward Downend, has crashed, coming rest on the incorrect side of the carriageway.
It is understood that the crash has damaged some street furniture.
A single ambulance and fire engine are on scene, but the female driver is currently being tended to in the back of an ambulance.
Police, who have already taken statements from those who witnessed the crash, have closed Long Lane between Downend and Landscape Lane for the time being.
UPDATE @ 17:55 – The single occupant of the vehicle has been taken to St Mary’s Hospital.
Long Lane remains blocked whilst Police await recovery.
