Isle of Wight-born goalkeeper Simon Moore will be hoping to feature in the Premier League next season for Coventry City. The Championship club made a slow start to the campaign, but their results have improved through November and December. Coventry finished fifth in last season’s Championship standings. They qualified through to the final of the play-offs at Wembley but were beaten by Luton Town in that game. Moore played 44 games last season and was a key part of their top-six finish.
Best Premier League Goalkeepers in The World
Moore will be hoping to join some of the best Premier League goalkeepers in the world, such as Manchester City’s Ederson. The defending champions, with the Brazilian as their number one, are the 6/5 favourites in the betting odds for the English Premier League this season. Those who are following the latest EPL season will note that Liverpool and Aston Villa have both made an excellent start to their title bids, and that’s in no small part down to the form of their keepers, Alisson and Emiliano Martinez respectively.

The Coventry man, who has played five times for the Isle of Wight at the Island Games, is closing in on 300 career appearances in senior football. He has been at the Midlands club since 2021 and he has been producing some of the best form of his career with the Sky Blues. To push his career to the next level, he will be desperate to be an opposite number to the likes of Ederson, Alisson and Martinez in 2024.
Moore Played in the Premier League for Sheffield United
Should Coventry and Moore get the opportunity to feature in goal in the top-flight of English football, it won’t be the first time that he has played in the league. The 28-year-old featured in two Premier League games in the 2019/20 campaign for Sheffield United.

Moore made his Premier League debut against Manchester United in a 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane. Although he conceded three goals in that game, the away side were dominant, with 11 shots, so he had to be at his best to earn his side a point. With Henderson being ineligible to face his parent club, Moore also started for the Blades in their trip to Old Trafford later in the season. Unfortunately for the visitors, they were beaten 3-0 by the Manchester club.
Competition With Wilson
In what is proving healthy competition for Coventry manager Mark Robins, Moore is battling with Ben Wilson for the number one jersey this season. The latter has featured the most in the Championship in the latest campaign, but Robins has made it clear that the starting spot is up for grabs ahead of every fixture. Moore’s contract at the Coventry Building Society Arena expires next summer, so his priority will be to earn a new deal before then. He’ll be looking to break back into the team for the busy Championship season. It looks set to be an exciting second half of the season in the Championship and Coventry will be hoping they remain involved in the promotion hunt on the final day of the season.
