Island showbiz writer and broadcaster John Hannam says he is saddened by the recent death of the legendary entertainer Roy Hudd, who was due to visit the Medina Theatre later this year.

John had interviewed Roy many times over the past 40 years and had been due to interview him again in Horsham next month to promote his Island gig.

Over the years, Roy had appeared at several local venues including Shanklin Theatre, Sandown Pavilion and the Ryde Castle, where he appeared at a Water Rats lunch with other stars including Danny La Rue and Norman Wisdom.
