A staff member at an Isle of Wight secondary school has been arrested on suspicion of sexually communicating with a student.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has launched an investigation after receiving reports during the school day yesterday (Monday) of a male allegedly engaging in sexual communication with a child.
A 23-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of being an adult in a position of trust inciting sexual activity with a child.
This offence, under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, is applicable to a victim under the age of 18.
As part of their enquiries, officers conducted a search of a residential address connected with the individual, where elctronic devices were seized.
In a separate allegation, the man in his 20s – from East Cowes – was also arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The suspect was taken into custody for questioning and has since been bailed, with conditions, until Tuesday 16th June.
