Cowes RNLI lifeboat launched to reports of a ship on fire off the north coast of the Isle of Wight earlier this evening (Wednesday).
The volunteer crew were tasked to launch alongside Calshot RNLI at just gone 20:00 following reports of a fire onboard the chemical tanker ‘Sea Emperor’.
Both of Calshot’s inshore lifeboats were quickly able to confirm that there was no fire present and that the alarm had been raised due to bright deck lights on the anchored vessel.
All 3 lifeboats were stood down to return to station.
