UPDATED WITH VIDEO: Several appliances from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are this morning (Saturday) tackling a blaze at a garden centre in Wootton.
Three appliances have been sent to Lushington Hill Garden Centre following reports of several sheds ablaze, with plumes of black smoke being sent into the air.
Island Echo readers are reporting that the smoke is visible from Niton and out into the Solent.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are working to extinguish three sheds. It is understood gas canisters maybe be present at the fire ground, with witnesses reporting ‘popping’ noises prior to the arrival of fire crews.
UPDATED @ 14:02 – Crews have successfully brought the fire under control having spent several hours at the incident. Two appliances from Newport Fire Station and one from East Cowes attended the scene.
Traffic was delayed in the area, however has now resumed to normal flow.
