The search for a missing 71-year-old tourist who hasn’t been seen since Tuesday night continues this morning (Friday).
Police are growing increasingly concerned for the welfare of Michael Davies, who was last seen at Hotel Maria on Culver Parade, Sandown and later captured on CCTV in the area at 01:00 Wednesday morning.
Michael was on holiday with his wife, visiting the island as part of a coach trip.
Officers are following up a number of enquiries, both on the island and in Mr Davies home town of Blaina in Wales. WightSAR, the National Police Helicopter and the Hampshire Marine Policing Unit have all been assisting officers in search of Mr Davies, but have yet to locate him.
Hampshire Police are asking members of the public on the island to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings in case Michael has taken refuge in there and fallen asleep, or may even have become unwell or unable to call out for help.
The appeal has now been shared with mainland ports, ferry and transport terminals, particularly in the Lymington, Portsmouth and Southampton area, in case Michael has got confused and tried to make his way home.
Despite the close proximity to the seaside and Culver Cliff, HM Coastguard nor Sandown & Shanklin Independent Lifeboat have been requested to assist Police.
