The 2-bedroom cottage, with sea views across the English Channel from both bedrooms and the rear garden, fetched £134,000, which was £19,000 above the lower end of the guide price.
Situated at 26 Ocean View Road, Ventnor, the property has a 999-year lease from 1902.
Rob Marchant, Clive Emson’s Island auctioneer, said:
“There was keen interest, resulting in 14 bids being made and cottage being purchased for £134,000.”
A “speculative” freehold site of 0.01 acres, with a derelict storage facility, went for £15,000 and is located at 69B Pelham Road, Cowes.

Previously let at £36,000 per annum, 104 and 105 St James Square, Newport, is re-available; it was guided freehold at £200,000-plus. The property comprises a ground floor retail outlet, with the upper floor split into 2 units with conversion potential.
Also for sale was a freehold investment at 159 High Street, Ryde, which is currently let at £13,150 per annum and came with a guide price of £130,000 – £140,000. There is a retail shop on the ground floor, on a commercial lease of £13,000 per annum.
Rectory Mansion had a guide price of £550,000-plus and comprises 14 commercial units, including a restaurant, and a three-bedroom flat at 46-48 High Street, Brading. To the north of the property is a large car park, held on a leasehold basis and producing an income of £32,493 per annum, which had a guide price of £50,000-plus..
