Scott Lawson of Ryde A beat Steve Mills from Ryde Goshawks in an incredibly close game.
Lawson was unbeaten in Division 1 last season, whilst Mills is the current Island Men’s Champion, and their battle went right to the wire, with Lawson taking the final set 12-10, and the match ended 6-4 to Ryde A, taking them up to 3rd place in the table.
The top 2 teams in the Division, Ryde C and Ryde Rankers, met in another close match. The Ranker’s Hugh Idle was on excellent form and won all his matches, the most notable being against top rated junior Ryan Cates, which Idle won in 3 straight sets.
Idle’s team mate, junior Lewis Johnstone had an extremely close game against Joe Chapman, eventually winning in 5 close sets. The match ended 6-4 to Ryde C.
Newport Vics B had their 1st win this season, against clubmates Vics A, although the A team were a player short. The match ended 8-2 to the B team, with Charlie Stapleley gaining a notable win over experienced Dave Hilliam.

In Division 2…
2 Ryde teams, the Revellers and the Detonators, lead the table in 1st and 2nd place respectively, with Havenstreet B close behind in 3rd and with a game in hand. All 3 look capable of taking the Division 2 title this season, and all 3 won their matches this week by 8 games to 2. The Reveller’s Spike Hughes and Gourav Shah head the averages table.
Newly promoted Shorwell Spinners are holding their own in the higher division, and they had an excellent win this week against Newport Vics D, taking the match 7-3, with Shorwell’s Robert Wendes unbeaten and with a win average of over 66% so far this season.

In Division 3…
St Lawrence Lizards head the table with Ryde Revellers in 2nd place, whilst newcomers to the League, Wroxall Warriors, are in 3rd.
Wroxall met the Revellers in an exciting match this week which culminated in a draw, with Wroxall’s Andrew Bailey player of the match, and he remains unbeaten this season, along with St Lawrence’s Derek Pittard.
