UPDATED: Scenes of crime investigators are in attendance at a property in Ryde this afternoon (Thursday), where Police have been present throughout the day.
Since at least 03:00 this morning several officers have been situated outside the semi-detached house at 29 St John’s Road, close to West Stores. One Police vehicle has been parked directly outside the house, whilst others have been located in nearby side streets.
Local residents say they are unaware of what has occurred, but indications have been made of a possible assault having taken place overnight.
A Forensic officer is now inside the property gathering photographs and evidence, alongside a plain clothed officer.
UPDATE: Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that a 47-year-old man from Ryde has been arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment and Actual Bodily Harm.
He has been taken to Newport Police Station for questioning and remains in custody this afternoon.
