A Sandown man who stood before the courts charged with swinging his dog around by the collar and kicking and punching it has been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Elliott Hegarty, 37, of Fitzroy Street in Sandown had denied causing suffering to his dog at every opportunity.
His dog, Kuro, was seized by Police on 18th March 2022 and was placed immediately into kennels, where he stayed for the following 14 months.
Hegarty was found not guilty on 9th May 2023, whilst a public order charge – for which Hegarty was alleged to have committed – was also withdrawn later that month.
Both dog and owner have been reunited.
Well they say the law is an ass, and this proves it, how can he be found NOT GUILTY of the charge, that poor dog, and now its been returned to the owner!!!!!!!!!! Madness
The same way you can be found not guilty of any charge.
You didn’t do what you were accused of doing.
I assume you gave any evidence you have to the contrary to the police?
Because vindictive person reports him for something he hasn’t done just to cause upset. Its not rocket science.

Odd,how come it took 14mths in Court process?. Were there witnesses to incident?. Did Police make it up. Either way it’s cost tax payers many thousands to Kennel this dog.

a. the court decided that he didn’t do it
or
b. the court decided that “swinging his dog around by the collar and kicking and punching it” isn’t an offence ?

Scum who are found not guilty of crimes are actually innocent so maybe revise your comment.
I should imagine he maybe disciplined his dog, as a responsible owner should, was seen by one of the usual hysterical dog nonce types, who then proceeded to make a mountain from the proverbial mole hill, all at the tax payers expense.
Couldn’t have been nice for that poor animal to be separated from its owner, along with the kennel environment for 14 months will have done more harm….
Some people should not have animals if they are unable to treat with kindness, poor animals are at the mercy of their owners, i honestly dont know why these type of people keep a dog to make and make its life a misery, perverted and evil, fingers crossed for the poor dog who should of been re homed right away in my opinion
