New name, same great team – that’s the message from Esplanade in Cowes which is now known as Van Mossel Esplanade. As first reported by Island Echo last week, the Isle of Wight car dealership has changed its name to reflect its ownership by Van Mossel – a Dutch industry giant. In the Autumn of last year, Van Mossel purchased its first UK businesses which included Esplanade and its sister sites in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man. With 75 years of trading history, Van Mossel boasts a total of 452 branches spanning the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg and the UK with a workforce of some 6,600 employees. Brendan Cole, Head of Business at Van Mossel Esplanade, says:
“We are thrilled to unveil our new identity as Van Mossel Esplanade. This new name represents our dedication to providing the best automotive experience for our customers while also reflecting the strong values that have always defined our dealership.”
Reassurances have been given that all of the familiar faces that have made Esplanade a trusted name on the Isle of Wight will remain at the very heart of the Van Mossel Esplanade team. Alongside their new name, Van Mossel Esplanade is introducing 2 new state-of-the-art showrooms dedicated to the latest brands in its line-up: Skoda, Cupra and Seat. Esaplande is also an approved repairer and retailer for Mercedes-Benz, Smart, VW and Volvo.

Maybe they will reduce the price of their vehicles and their extortionate
hourly rates for repairs and services
Lol
Easy way to fix that, learn to fix and service your own car. Easy to do and you save a lot of money. But then you just want people to work for free don’t you.
Fred I have a lot of friends who are vehicle technicians
majority of them don’t know how to pump up a tyre
yet alone carry out a repair.
The worrying think is I am 100% telling the truth.
Every garage has them. I can vouch for that.
It’s a real shame that this isn’t a local owned company now. It appears that that they have taken it away from all the local dealerships and given it to this Giant. So a few staff work here and the money now goes abroad as per, bring back Island owned businesses! Boycott these foreign investors.
There are 15 people in that picture, that’s 15 wages being paid to Islanders who will then be spending that money here on the island benefitting other businesses here on the island.
Brendan has been the face of Esplanade for many years and he and his team should be proud of their success. I wish them continued success under the new owners
Looks like a very blokey company
What’s the matter, too white for you also.
God, you fell for that one
Does Honest John still work for them? I bought plenty of great motors from him….although they didn’t all work very well.
Majority of Car Dealers are so bent, they can’t stand up straight.
I’m sure it is… but it still doesn’t stop the fact that all the profit will most likely be taken out of our country TAX FREE…. No wonder we’re skint a nation.
Who in their right mind would buy a vehicle from an island
Dealership, you save a few thousand pounds popping across the
Solent.
Island dealers charge a few thousand pounds more than mainland
dealers.
I saw a used Audi for sale at Westridge garage ryde £16,995
a few weeks later same vehicle £19,995
They are having a laugh!
