A Ryde woman who pleaded guilty to criminal damage and possession of both Class A and Class B drugs has been sentenced, after initially failing to appear in court.
Vicki Cunningham, 33, of Mountbatten Drive in Ryde, previously appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court where she admitted the 3 charges against her, but she failed to appear for the sentencing hearing on 15th September and a warrant was issued for her arrest.
Eventually, she surrendered to authorities and appeared before Magistrates last Tuesday (19th September).
The court heard how the initial charges related to an incident on 19th July where Cunningham returned to her block of flats on Mountbatten Drive and tried to force entry into the flat of 1 of her neighbours.
She was said to have kicked the front door and shouted the name of her neighbour, while leaving blood smeared around the entrance from a cut she had earlier sustained after dropping a bottle of vodka.
After she was arrested by Police, she told them that she was in possession of cannabis and cocaine, which they duly found.
Defending, Jim Osborne said that the neighbour was a former friend with whom she subsequently fell out. He said that his client had shown remorse, entered an early guilty plea and had not touched any alcohol since the incident.
Magistrates handed her a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation days. She was also ordered to pay a £137 fine, £85 costs, and a £114 surcharge.

Who needs neighbours like that.
So glad I live in a detached bungalow
She’s a piece of work, this woman. Obviously an old soak, she likes her Vodka, probably for breakfast and throughout the day!
Failed to appear, stupid. Does she think she can beat the system just by not turning up.
All she gets is a community of order. Pathetic isn’t it, where’s the deterrent in this. Grow up, get a job and start behaving like a civilized human being in society.
just anther day on the isle of Wight but then it is the drug dump they call Ryde

Must admit the majority news stories regarding antisocial behaviour, drugs etc. does seem to happen Ryde.
