
With 2 more weeks to go to the end of the season, Ryde A are unbeatable at the top of Division 1 with 100 points, with 2 games in hand over their nearest rivals, Ryde C, who have 84 points.
Ryde teams take up the top 4 places, although Newport Vics A and Shanklin Warriors are both in with a chance to move up the table, with Shanklin in the strongest position.
Vics and Shanklin met this week, and Shanklin came out on top with a 7-3 win, although Vic’s Anna Joyce, soon to be playing in the Island Games in Guernsey, was in good form with 2 wins, including a 5-set victory over top-rated Don Hobbs. Player of the match was Shanklin’s unbeaten Michael Bulpitt.
Shanklin Skuas, who lie 8th in the table had an unexpectedly strong win over 3rd-placed Ryde B, with Paul Rainford and Graham Evans unbeaten and victorious in the doubles, with the match ending 8-2 to Shanklin.

In Division 2, Newport Vic s B are confirmed as champions, with two weeks left of the season, and are over 30 points ahead of 2nd-placed Ryde Rascals.
Third and 4th placed teams, Ryde Rockets and Ryde Relatives met in a topsy-turvy match full of long games and exciting play. The Rockets Trevor Percival was player of the match, but only just overcame the Relative’s junior player Joseph Millward at deuce in the 5th set. Joseph’s twin Ethan won 2 games and was successful playing with grandad Martin Dove in the doubles, another 5-set thriller. The match ended 6-4 to the Rockets.
The bottom 2 teams, Ryde Rangers and Newport Vics C, met in another thriller, with Ryde’s junior Zak Holbrook player of the match and unbeaten, but bottom-of-the-table Vics were more than happy with a draw after Paul Lewis and Chris Gordine were successful against Ryde’s Holbrook and teammate Marlene Irving.

Shorwell’s 2 teams both played in close matches this week, with 4th-placed Shorwell Saints holding Division 3 leaders St Lawrence Lizards to a draw.
2nd-placed Shorwell Spinners managed a win against lower-placed Ryde Retailers after a long, closely fought match, which culminated in a doubles win for Shorwell at deuce in the 5th set.
St Lawrence are favourites to win the Division Three title, but Shorwell Spinners can still overtake them with two matches left to play.
