RYDE TEAM TAKE THE WIN AT SHANKLIN AND SANDOWN GOLF CLUB’S LADIES’ OPEN

72 ladies took part in Shanklin and Sandown Golf Club’s Ladies’ Open on Friday 21st June.

Of the 24 teams competing, 13 had made an early Solent crossing to play in the annual Bowmaker Competition.

Rose Green, Nickie Moreton and Judith Lazelle from Ryde Golf Club took first place with 85 points with Judy Gowing (Roehampton), Polly Lewis (Roehampton) and Gillian Fahy (Osborne) taking second place with 78 points on countback from Sue Masser, Mary Panter and Mal Hope-Mason from Alresford.

2 days later, on Sunday 23rd, the club hosted their Mixed Open.

17 teams from both mainland and Island clubs, together with 11 teams from Shanklin and Sandown GC, competed in a 4-Ball-Better-Ball Stableford Competition.

Aidie Adams and Debbie Skoludek from Ryde Golf Club took first prize with 44 points, with Victor and Jean Langley from Osborne Golf Club on 41 points taking second place on countback from Brian Morey and Joyce Jenkins, also from Osborne.

The home winners were Sean Millward and Connie Huntington with 48 points winning on countback from Shawn Ford and Linda Piche.

On both days’ competitors were treated to a welcome glass of Pimms after their round, before sitting down to enjoy a delicious meal prepared by Shanklin and Sandown’s chef, Helen Broadhead.
