Members of Wightlink-sponsored Ryde Rowing Club travelled to Dorset on Sunday (8th March) to compete in the Christchurch Rowing Club Head of the Stour, securing several podium finishes in the 2.7km processional race on the River Stour.
The event was split across 2 divisions and saw a number of Ryde scullers and crews competing across junior and senior categories.
In Division 1, the Isle of Wight club fielded 4 single scullers. Isaac Gibson competed in the Open Coastal Novice Sculls and finished in 2nd place with a time of 11:50.
Ryde also had 2 competitors in the Open J15 Single Sculls. Joe Bird secured 2nd place in a time of 12:56, while Max Locke finished 3rd with a time of 13:10.
Charlie Watts raced in the Open J18 Single Sculls, crossing the line in 3rd place with a time of 11:29.
Division 2 saw further success for the Isle of Wight club.
Joe Bird and Max Locke teamed up in the Open Double Sculls, taking 1st place in a time of 12:13.
Ryde’s Open Coastal Senior Four crew of Paddy Kearney, Joe Roberts, Will Hall and Charlie Watts, with Mai Read coxing, finished 2nd in their section with a time of 11:12.
