UPDATE: Ryde Inshore Rescue have launched to the aid of a large yacht on the Solent this afternoon (Friday).
The independent lifeboat station’s crew hit the water at just gone 16:20 before making waves to a yacht with a currently unclear problem to the north of Ryde Pier.
It appears the vessel is now being towed West towards Cowes.
Meanwhile Cowes RNLI have also launched and are heading in the general direction of Ryde Rescue 1 and the casualty vessel.
Yarmouth RNLI have also been tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard, for what is thought to be a separate incident.
UPDATE @ 17:50 – Ryde Inshore Rescue have confirmed they launched to the 42ft yacht ‘Prime Number’, which had reported it was taking on water at around 16:10.
Ryde Rescue 1 made the vessel safe before taking it under tow to Cowes, where the tow was transferred to Cowes RNLI lifeboat. The RNLI crew then took the casualty vessel to East Cowes Marina.
