UPDATED: Ryde Inshore Rescue have launched to the aid of a jet ski and it’s rider off Ryde Sands this afternoon (Sunday).
Solent Coastguard tasked the independent lifeboat station to launch at around 16:00.
Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team are on scene at Ryde Esplanade.
UPDATE @ 16:30 – The crew of Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat have recovered the jet skier from the water and transferred him ashore to the Appley-based lifeboat station.
However, the lifeboat has been re-tasked to rescue a kite surfer in a separate incident just north of Ryde Sands.
UPDATE @ 16:40 – Volunteers lifeboat crew members have now successfully recovered the kite surfer, bringing both the male and his kite back to the shore where he has been met by Coastguard officers.
Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat is now motoring back out into the Solent to tow the jet ski to Ryde Harbour.
UPDATE @ 17:00 – The jet ski is now moored up in Ryde Harbour and Ryde Rescue 2 are now returning to base.
Neither casualty has required any medical assistance from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
