RYDE RESCUE LAUNCH TO BOAT FIRE


UPDATED: Ryde Inshore Rescue are attending to a motor cruiser with a reported fire on board off Ryde Harbour this morning (Sunday).

The independent lifeboat was tasked by Solent Coastguard at just before 11:00 following a Mayday alert from the vessel ‘Sundowner’.

There is currently no obvious signs of fire on board the vessel, which is around 200m off Ryde Harbour.

UPDATE @ 11:25 – The casualty vessel is now being towed up the Solent by another leisure boat.

Thankfully a response by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has not been required.

Ryde Rescue 1 lifeboat is standing by both vessels as they proceed West past Ryde Pier.

UPDATE @ 12:00 – Ryde Rescue 1 has now stood down from the incident and has recovered to the boat house at Appley.
