In Division 2…
Havenstreet Hooters were in action twice this week, with a 10-0 win over Ryde Allsorts, and a much closer match against top of the table Newport Vics C. Paul White and Carl Rye both won two against Newport, but nobody could get the better of Newport’s Lawrence Fo, who was in top form. With the match resting on the doubles, Fo and team mate Paul Harper won in four close sets, with the match ending in a draw. Newport Vics C also had another match this week against Ryde Revellers, who gave them a shock and proved extremely difficult opponents. The Revellers Nicola Turner had an excellent night and was player of the match and unbeaten. Team mate Dave Batten also won 2 and was only narrowly beaten in his third singles game by Paul Harper. A Shorwell derby match took place this week, with the Spinners coming out on top this time, with Robert Wendes unbeaten for the Spinners. The Spinners ultimately took the match 6 games to 4.
Newport Vics D extended their lead at the top of the table, with an 8-2 victory over Ryde Retailers.
