Ryde Rankers closed the gap on League leaders Ryde C after a 10-0 thrashing of Newport Vics A, with the Ranker’s Graham Evans player of the match.
Ryde C had an 8-2 win against Ryde Goshawks, with the C team’s Paul Rainford unbeaten, whilst the Goshawks Steve Mills won 2.
Alex Rorke was on form for Ryde B, winning all 3 of his games, as they had an excellent win against Ryde A. Rorke had to fight hard to overcome the A team’s Mark Turner in 5 sets, and the doubles also went all the way, as Rorke and team mate Tim Giles overcame Turner and his doubles partner Scott Lawson by the smallest of margins in the final set. Ryde B came out the winner’s by 6 games to 4.

In Division 2…
In Division 2, Havenstreet B continue to move up the table and look a real threat to the top 2 teams, Ryde Revellers and Ryde Detonators, after their 9-1 victory over Ryde Rockets, with Tim Wakeley winning the sole game for the Rockets.
Both the top placed Ryde teams were in action against Newport Vics opposition this week, with the Detonators making short work of Vics D in a 10-0 victory, although the Vic’s players were unlucky not to pick up a couple of games. The Revellers met Vics C and won the match 8-2, with Vics’ Paul Lewis and Michael Jose winning 1 each, whilst the Reveller’s Spike Hughes and Gourav Shah were unbeaten.
The cadets of Ryde Rising Stars played in the match of the week against Ryde Quintet, with Thane Taylor and Theo Lewis winning 1 each, and both were involved in some thrilling games. Tom Waddell was unbeaten for the Rising Stars, whilst William Paul won 2 for the Quintet, and the match ended in a draw.

In Division 3…
Wroxall Warriors lead the table after an easy 9-1 win over Shorwell Saints, although their two rivals St Lawrence Lizards and Ryde Retailers both have 2 matches in hand.
The Retailers met Ryde Rustics, with the Rustic’s Phil Stevens on great form and causing problems for the Retailer’s Cate brothers and beating both. Stevens also featured in the doubles with Carol Taverner, winning a thrilling game in the 5th set against Shane Cates and Joseph Millward. The match finished 7-3 to the Retailers, with Millward unbeaten and player of the match.

Practice Sessions at isle of Wight Table Tennis Centre
There are practice sessions held throughout the week at the Isle of Wight Table Tennis Centre at Smallbrook Stadium, Ryde PO33 4BH, and all are welcome to come along.
The daytime sessions are held on Mondays and Wednesdays between 9:00 and 12:00, whilst the evening sessions are held on Monday and Friday evenings between 18:45 pm and 21:00.
The cost per session is £4 per person, (£2 for under 18s), bats and balls are provided if required, and tea/coffee is also available.
All standards are welcome, although with the daytime sessions the emphasis is more on social table tennis, whilst the evening sessions tend to have some more serious practice taking place! However, everyone is welcome to attend any session.
Table Tennis is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, from young children to people in their 90s. So why not come along and give it a go?
