2nd-placed Ryde Rankers beat clubmates Ryde B by 7 games to 3, narrowing the gap at the top behind Ryde C to just 6 points.
The Ranker’s Hugh Idle was on form, winning all 3, although the B team’s Tim Giles took him to 5 sets. Idle’s team mate Lewis Johnstone also beat Giles in 5, making Giles the unluckiest player of the night.
Newport Vics B picked up a much needed 5 points in their match against a depleted Ryde Goshawks as they try to avoid relegation. Newport’s Charlie Stapeley and Rob Warren both won extremely close games against the Goshawk’s Conal Howell, whilst teammate Martin Johnstone was unbeaten and player of the match.

In Division 2…
It was a busy week in Division Two as Ryde Revellers stayed in command at the top after their 9-1 win against Newport Vics D.
The young players of Ryde Rising Stars had an excellent win against Ryde Rockets, with 13-year-old Thane Taylor and 14-year-old Jye Lock both winning against top-ranked Trevor Percival. Thane teamed up with 13-year-old Theo Lewis to take the doubles, and the match ended 7-3 to the Rising Stars.
There were 2 close matches between Shorwell Spinners and Newport Vics C and Havenstreet B and Ryde Detonators. Vics got the better of lower-placed Shorwell , although there were some close games, and the match ended 6-4 to Vics. 3rd-placed Ryde Detonators beat Havenstreet by the same score line, with Ryde’s Elaine Mills unbeaten and player of the match.

In Division 3…
St Lawrence Lizards have taken back the top spot from Wroxall Warriors after their top of the table clash ended in a 6-4 win for St Lawrence.
The Lizards were also in action against Ryde Frogs this week, and their highly ranked Derek Pittard had to work hard to overcome the Frog’s Kevin Fraser in a long 5-set game, whilst the doubles was another close affair which Fraser and team mate Robin Clegg won to achieve a draw for the Frogs.
