RYDE PAVILION’S HISTORIC AND PROTECTED STRUCTURE DAMAGED BY MINDLESS VANDALS

‘Mindless’ vandalism to a near 100-year-old listed building in Ryde is being investigated by Police. Last night (Friday), persons unknown caused damage to the railings on the top of Ryde’s Pavilion building – which has only recently been refurbished. The Grade II listed structure, situated proudly on the Esplanade, was built in 1926. It has been a protected building since November 1989. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has been informed of the incident with officers now investigating the matter, which includes reviewing CCTV footage. Tonight’s Oasis vs Blur tribute event will be going ahead as planned, but access to the event will be from the rear of the building.
