RYDE DOMINATE AT THE HALFWAY POINT IN DIVISION 1

Anna Joyce - Newport Vics B - Division One

Ryde A have demonstrated their dominance in the Isle of Wight Table Tennis Division 1 league at the halfway point with an emphatic 9-1 victory over Shanklin Sharks, pushing them down into third place.

The Ryde A team look unstoppable with Alex Rorke and Scott Lawson both on 100% win averages. Only Shanklin’s Don Hobbs scored a win against Ryde’s Glenn Morley.

Ryde Royals moved into second place after an easy 8-2 victory over Havenstreet Sleepers. Whilst Ryde’s Hugh Idle continued his winning ways with 3 victories, teammates Ricky Lock and David Batten could not get the better of Havenstreet’s Ollie Staniforth. Lock and Batten won a close fought doubles against Staniforth and Darol Wilson to finish the match in style.

Ryde’s Mike Prior played a nail-biting 5-setter against Michael Joyce and again lost out in the final set. Johnstone and Giles won the doubles against Sean and Anna and the match ended in a draw.
