A man in his 70s who was seriously injured in a collision on Ryde Esplanade late last year has died almost 6 months after the incident, Police have confirmed.
The collision occurred on the morning of 11th December 2024, when a Mercedes Vaneo and a bicycle were involved in a serious crash on the seafront.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded to the scene and the cyclist was taken to hospital with critical injuries, as reported by Island Echo.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that the 76-year-old man from Ryde died on 29th May.
Following a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision, the case has been filed with no further action to be taken against the driver of the vehicle involved.
The incident prompted a witness appeal at the time, but police say the matter is now closed.
An inquest is to be held by Senior Coroner, Caroline Sumeray.
