Ryde Cricket Club Under-12s have won their indoor league by beating Ventnor by 22 runs.
Ryde originally scored 97-3 from their 9 overs, with Alex (18*), Oscar (16*), Charlie (12) and Henry (10*) all reaching double figures. There were wickets for Josh and Monty B, plus a run out for Emily, giving Ventnor 15 runs to start their innings with.
In reply, Ventnor started well through Monty C (17*) and Ernie (16*), but a fantastic spell from Oscar (3-12) started to turn the game Ryde’s way. There were also wickets for Fergus and Josh and run outs for Oscar and Alex, meaning Ryde added an extra 35 runs to their total to finish on 132, Ventnor ending 22 runs short on 110-7.
The Isle of Wight Cricket Board have said:
“Congratulations to Ryde for winning the U12 Indoor League, defeating Ventnor by 22 runs in a pulsating final on Friday evening.
“It was a superb final to finish the league season on, with both teams putting on a good show for the spectators at The Bay.
“There were some standout moments for both teams, including some spectacular catches for both sides – well done to all involved for reaching the final.”

Attention for the U12s will now move to the cup competition, which begins on Friday.
