A Ryde couple whose wedding day plans were scuppered by Boris’ nationwide lockdown celebrated in a rather different way yesterday (Saturday).
Keith Ruth and Carolyn Ward were due to tie the knot on what turned out to be a gloriously sunny Saturday. However, with coronavirus halting the nuptials, they decided to hold a ‘It’s Not Our Wedding Day’ run instead!
The couple donned suitable wedding attire and took to the streets of Ryde to complete a 10k run, passing the houses of many fellow Ryde Harriers runners and guests on the way.
In Haylands, they were able to stop for a social distancing safe photo or two, courtesy of LH 4 Photography – who was due to capture their big day on camera.
Carolyn and Keith said:
“We we’re overwhelmed that so many of you wanted to wave and cheer us on with our “Not a Wedding Day Run.
“Thankyou all so much for your kind words, we had a great run”.

Brilliant, good for them and good luck when the proper time comes !
Love conquers all. Good luck.
