RYDE B TAKE NARROW VICTORY OVER RYDE A IN ISLE OF WIGHT TABLE TENNIS DIV 1

Match of the week was between Ryde A and Ryde B, with top-quality table tennis on show, including British Senior League players Scott Lawson, Alex Rorke and Tim Giles in action. Ryde A’s Lawson kept his unbeaten record by the skin of his teeth, beating Ryde B’s Rorke in a 5-set thriller. However, the A team’s other players struggled in their games, whilst Rorke’s teammates Bryce Wilson and Tim Giles performed well, leading to a 6-4 victory to the B team. Ryde Goshawks had an easy win against Newport Vics B, with 19-year-old Joe Chapman player of the match, and Newport’s Rob Warren taking the solitary win for his team. Ryde Reprobates also took an easy win against Ryde Ravens, winning 8-2, with Junior Lewis Johnstone from the British Senior League in action and the player of the match. Division 1 Results

In Division 2…

Newport Vics C are fielding a strong team this season and had a particularly fine win over Ryde Rockets 10-0, with Lawrence Fo player of the match. A bottom-of-the-table encounter between Ryde Lizards and Ryde Allsorts gave the Allsorts a rare easy win, with the match ending 8-2, and the Allsorts Manfred Gelhard was player of the match.
