Ryde A continue to top the table after beating Ryde B 7-3 and look like favourites for the title again as we near the halfway point of the season.
Shanklin Skuas met clubmates Shanklin Warriors in a tight match, with the Skua’s new signing Paul Rainford proving hard to beat, winning against both the Warrior’s strongest player Don Hobbs, plus Spike Hughes, and only losing to Michael Bulpitt in five sets. The match ended in a draw after an easy doubles victory for the Skuas.
Ryde D had a good win against Newport Vics A, with Ryde’s junior player Lewis Johnstone beating Newport’s Dave Hilliam and John Cornforth, whilst teammate Glenn Morley won all three. Newport won the doubles in five sets and the match ended 6-4 to Ryde.
