A sandwich van was stolen from outside a shop in Ryde this afternoon (Wednesday) as the driver made a delivery – but the thief or thieves didn’t get very far.
Police were called to Oakfield High Street in the town at just before 13:00 following reports that a white Suzuki van had been stolen from outside Oakfield Stores when the driver stopped to make a delivery.
Several Police units responded to the scene, resulting in the successful recovery of the Full Spread-owned van, which was located just one street away at the top of Harding Road.
The delivery driver has now been safely reunited with his van.
Investigations continue.
