UPDATED: The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service are attending The Woodman’s Arms pub in Wootton this afternoon (Tuesday).
1 appliance from Ryde and 1 from Newport are currently on scene at Station Road having been mobilised to reports of a possible roof fire at just gone 14:00.
Patrons and staff have been evacuated from the premises.
UPDATE @ 14:45 – Fire crews have now left the scene having ascertained the alert was caused by an accidental fire within the ivy growing up the outside of the building.
The fire was extinguished by pub staff, according to the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service. A thermal imaging camera has been used to check for any hotspots.
The building itself has not been affected and the pub remains open for business as usual.
