2 adults and a child have been guided back to dry land after concerns were raised for their safety as they attempted to walk out to St Helens Fort – just hours after 4 other people had to be rescued by lifeboat.
It was just gone 09:00 this morning (Wednesday) that Solent Coastguard requested the launch of Bembridge RNLI’s inshore lifeboat to go to the aid of a man, woman and young girl who were spotted in potential difficulty at St Helens Fort.
It’s understood they were attempting to reach the fortification at low tide.
Thankfully, the trio were able to walk back to dry land – guided by the watchful volunteer lifeboat crew. Coastguard Rescue Officers from Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team also responded.
This morning’s incident comes after a similar situation last night (Tuesday) when around 50 people were spotted walking out to sea.
3 adults and a child had to be rescued by lifeboat and taken ashore when they were cut off by the tide.
