UPDATED: A RIB that hit Ryde Sands at speed prompted the launch of Ryde Inshore Rescue this afternoon (Saturday) – their third shout in just over 24 hours.
The 8m RIB with 6 persons on board hit Ryde Sands at just before 16:25, leaving the vessel high and dry on a sandbank.
Ryde’s independent lifeboat station was tasked to assist the casualty vessel by Solent Coastguard, however, all persons on board the vessel were safe and well.
The RIB is expected to be refloated with the tide.
UPDATE @ 22:27 – The RIB ‘Catalina’ has now re-floated with assistance from Ryde Inshore Rescue’s Ryde Rescue 2 lifeboat and crew.
The casualty vessel is now heading back to Lymington with an escort.
