30-year-old Daniel Taylor has been charged with 2 counts of robbery and remanded in custody following an incident at Central Stores in Newport yesterday (Thursday). As first reported by Island Echo, Police were called to the High Street at 14:18 to reports of a robbery. It’s alleged that 2 members of staff were assaulted as a male stole £20 from one of the tills. A suspect was detained on nearby St James’ Street and taken into custody for questioning. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary has now confirmed that Daniel Taylor, 30, of Lowtherville Road in Ventnor, has been charged with 2 counts of robbery. He appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates’ Court this morning (Friday) where he was remanded in custody to appear at Isle of Wight Crown Court on 29th April.
