Wightlink has announced that a temporary reduced timetable will come into force until the 23rd June on its Fishbourne to Porstmouth service following the withdrawal of the Victoria of Wight.
The ferry company’s largest ship, Victoria of Wight, was withdrawn from service earlier today because of a mechanical failure involving one of the engines. The route will operate using 2 ferries (St Clare and St Faith) until Wednesday 23rd June.
All customers booked to travel with their vehicles on Victoria of Wight are being transferred to other sailings on this route or Wightlink’s Yarmouth to Lymington service.
This weekend (Friday 18th to Monday 21st June), the 2 ships on the Portsmouth-Fishbourne route will also sail throughout the night to ensure all customers, including freight drivers, are able to cross the Solent.
Wightlink staff are contacting all customers to inform them of their new sailing and to explain their options if they wish to amend their booking.
Wightlink’s Fleet and Operations Director John Burrows says:
“We apologise to all our customers who will be affected by this unavoidable change to our timetable.
“Although we are doing our best to make sure everyone will be able to travel this weekend, we know many people may be inconvenienced at this busy time of the year.”
See www.wightlink.co.uk/updates for full details and the new timetable.

Surprised??? ………. Both these and Redfunnel are a joke
What’s happened to the St Helen ?
What happened to the mv Southsea and brading? Proper ferries, bring back Sealink…..rip
She is in Sardinia, refurbihsed and running back and forth all day.
British Rail did the best job of cross solent travel 4 identical ships that the crew could all crew unlike today St clare crew on not trained to operate Victoria,
with all the money they charge they should beable to buy a new one lol.
Same old excuses different year, but what do you expect as there’s no competition. They won’t change as a fixed link will never go forward with this MP, change that and raise the stakes that a fixed link is possible and watch the ferries improve over night.
