There is yet more bad news for Red Funnel customers as the hi-speed Red Jet service will be operating a revised timetable for the next 2 days, at one of the busiest times of the year.
A lack of available staff led to a number of cancellations on the West Cowes-Southampton route today (Monday) hitting commuters, Christmas shoppers and those travelling for hospital appointments.
Now, it has been announced that a revised timetable is to come into operation for Tuesday and Wednesday as the cross-Solent operator’s staffing issues continue.
The revised timetable for the next 2 days is as follows:
Depart Southampton: 05:30 | 06:40 | 07:50 | 09:00 | 10:20 | 11:30 | 12:40 | 13:50 | 15:00 | 16:10 | 17:20 | 18:30 | 19:40 | 21:05 | 22:30
Depart West Cowes: 06:05 | 07:15 | 08:25 | 09:35 | 10:55 | 12:05| 13:15 | 14:25 | 15:35 | 16:45 | 17:55 | 19:05 | 20:15 | 21:40 | 23:05
The additional sailing for Saints vs Liverpool will operate on Wednesday at 23:40 from Southampton and 00:15 from West Cowes as planned.
Red Funnel apologies for any inconvenience.
Nothing to see here………………
Disgraceful. First sailing from Cowes at 8.25 absolutely stuffs anyone commuting to work. Staff issues? What – can they not get out of bed in the mornings??!!
‘lack of available staff’
Are these the same staff who are threatening to go on strike for more money?
Trying to run a boat service with a skeleton crew? Echoes of the Black Pearl I think.
Perhaps a law to make them pay the lost wages of commuters should initiated? Come on MPs!!
The uncertainty caused by Red Funnel’s appalling performance will deter people from living /visiting the island. Interesting that the company is still able to add /amend times of crossing to accommodate football fans yet cannot provide for commuters[ including students] and for those attending hospital appointments! Where is your social conscience, Red Funnel?
