Red Funnel has confirmed that its hi-speed Red Jet service will continue to be disrupted into next week as engineers continue work to repair Red Jet 4.
On Monday, Red Jet 4 was removed from service after high-pressure alarms were activated on the starboard engine. Engineers have been working hard to investigate and resolve the issue since.
It was hoped that the problem would be resolved by today in order for Red Jet 4 to re-enter service on Friday, enabling a 2-craft timetable to resume. However, the problem still hasn’t been fixed and therefore the cross-Solent operator has decided to extend its reduced timetable until Monday 31st January.
Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, has said:
“We encourage customers to plan ahead by checking the live departures on our website, clicking on the ‘Service Status’ link to check their desired departure time.
“Customers may also consider using our vehicle ferries as an alternative option, which are currently running to timetable, although we remind customers that we are operating out of our temporary berth (Berth 25) in Southampton. They really need to sort themselves out, How many red jets do they have? Just glad i dont hve to commute.
