Red Funnel’s appeal against the Isle of Wight Council’s decision to refuse planning permission for the redevelopment of land at East Cowes is now with the Planning Inspectorate.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the cross-Solent operator applied to demolish the existing car ferry terminal and surrounding commercial and residential buildings to allow for the regeneration of the town. A 60-bed hotel, retail and leisure premises and a larger ferry terminal were planned, but the Isle of Wight Council’s Planning Committee turned down the planning application.
Now, Southampton IoW South of England Royal Mail Steam Packet Co. have appealed the local decision with the Planning Inspectorate. The appeal is to be determined on the basis of an inquiry, although an inquiry date has not yet been set.
All comments and representations made on the planning application have been passed to the Inspectorate by the Isle of Wight Council, however anyone wanting to make a new or additional comment can do so before 10th March 2017 at https://acp.planninginspectorate.gov.uk.
