Red Funnel has announced multiple cancellations to sailings on 3 days next week as the Red Eagle vehicle ferry is temporarily removed from service.
The change in timetable is in order to carry out essential repairs to Red Eagle’s gangway.

The cancelled services are:
From Southampton: 05:00 | 08:00 | 11:00 | 14:00 | 17:00 | 20:15

Leanna Lakes, Operations Director at Red Funnel, has said:
“The Red Eagle will be temporarily removed from service from Tuesday 18th July to Thursday 20th July while we carry out necessary repairs on the passenger gangway Our engineers supported by specialist maritime contractors will complete the planned work in a way that minimises changes to our services.”
“We thank all our customers for their patience during this time. We are working towards resuming our normal timetable as safely and quickly as possible. We encourage customers to plan ahead by checking the live departures on our website. Customers may also consider using the Red Jet as an alternative option, which are currently running to timetable.”

I accept that I am not an engineering expert, but THREE DAYS to ‘fix’ a gangway?!
Is it a case these days that there is never any urgency attached to working?
It seems, on the Island at least, that just about ANY task takes an inordinate length of time to be completed. That, of course, is always after an interminable period of waiting for ‘studies and reports’ before any work actually commences!
No wonder the country is in a mess!!!
Obviously the public meeting with the senior management the other day, was beneficial to us
There used to be a spare vessel to bring into service when repairs were made. So much for progress, as long as a hedge fund somewhere is raking it in forget the customer.
O well stay on the island then a good place to stay
perfect well done give yourself a pat on the back..
Couldn’t they just let the foot passengers use the car ramp like they do on wightlink.. & repair the gangway over night…
3 days, Tuesday to Thursday one ferry out. Get a grip people
