FOLLOWING a recent uproar about the Isle of Wight Council’s bad timing to take the Cowes Floating Bridge out of action next week, the council has now arranged with the MCA for the Floating Bridge to have its annual inspection from Monday 15 April for approx five days.
As Island Echo reported earlier this week, the vital Cowes to East Cowes link was going to be out of action from Monday leading to car being diverted through Newport, despite the already existing traffic delays in and around the town.
The change in inspection date by the MCA will mean that the gas main replacement works on Fairlee Road and Staplers Road will have finished.
A foot passenger launch will be available which cyclists can also use from 15th April.
