1 person is being treated for the effects of smoke inhalation following a property fire in Ryde this evening (Saturday).
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service is currently on scene at Milligan Road, where a small kitchen fire has been quickly contained and fully extinguished.
An appliance from the-now wholetime station of Ryde arrived on scene at 19:05, with 2 firefighters quickly donning breathing apparatus to enter the smoke-filled, terraced home.
Positive pressure ventilation is being used to rid lingering smoke from the property, with windows and doors opened up.
A male occupant of the property is receiving immediate emergency care in the form of oxygen treatment for the effects of smoke inhalation.
Milligan Road – just off West Street – is currently blocked to motorists.
