The red carpet was rolled out, the limousine was ready and to a chorus of voices, instruments and bells, this year’s cohort were seen off to their celebratory supper with their invited tutors at the hotel in Wootton.
Before heading off though, students enjoyed a guard of honour from other pupils at the school.
This year’s leavers across the Island – at both GCSE and at A-Level studies – bore the brunt of their studies being interrupted by 2 years of COVID-19.
Not knowing whether they would be sitting exams in person like was common practice before the COVID-19 pandemic or like those the year before their grades would be decided by their classwork and predicted grades – it was a tough time for all students in their situation.
The celebration marked that they had finally come through all the interruption and confusion, were able to take their exams and able get back on track with their education.
