A Premier convenience store in the heart of Shanklin is ‘coming soon’. As previously reported by Island Echo Popular shoe retailer Shoe Zone vacated the Regent Street premises back in September 2023 and has remained empty since then. But recently signage has appeared above the doorway of the prominent building. Plans put forward earlier in the year by Subramaniam Sabeeshan – who runs similar branches across the Island – included kitting the store out with a beer cave, soft drinks cave, slushies and drinks machine and selling American confectionary. There are Premier stores located in towns and villages across the Island with a total of 4 nearby (1 in Apse Heath, 1 in Lake and 2 in Sandown). There are currently no stores in Shanklin. It is unclear when the store is to open.

Not sure we should be celebrating the arrival of another budget convenience store on an ever declining high street. The council could do so much more to regenerate this area and make it somewhere really nice for locals and visitors and to inspire better quality shops to succeed here, but it’s just left to rot and taken over by low quality shops like this
It’s not a budget store
Totally agree, you pay top prices in these places if you can afford to step inside .
Not for me Thankyou
what do you suggest “Kev”?
Just how many Premier shops does an Island need for goodness sake.
Lots , as low life shoplifting benefits kept trash gets banned from so many
1970s / 1980s London as finally arrived on the island.
Great news, the island needs diversity.
The more the better, good luck Premier.
hahaha oh dear
I think you will find that these stores are owned by tesco..they bought all of them some time back..
I think you will find… the stores are owned and operated by franchisees, the Premier franchise brand is owned and operated by Booker, which is in turn owned by Tesco.
Lots, where else are the ever rising number of benefit scroungers going to buy their alcohol and cigarettes.
Bringing diabeties to the masses!
About time bossman had a shop in Shanklin
