A 34-year-old man has been convicted of raping a woman who told him multiple times she did not want to have sex with him.
Louis Fletcher, formerly of Cheltenham Road in Paulsgrove and Abbeydore Road in Portsmouth, assaulted the woman – who is known to him – at an address in the Swanmore area of Ryde on the evening of 15th March 2021.
It’s said that the rape occurred after the victim had made it clear verbally that she did not want to have sexual intercourse with the CAD design specialist.
A lengthy investigation was launched by Police, with officers obtaining text messages between Fletcher and the victim after the attack in which Fletcher indicated that he understood at the time that the woman had not consented.
In December 2021 Fletcher was charged with rape but continued to deny the offence.
The case went to trial at the Isle of Wight Crown Court last week – more than 2 years after the attack. The jury found him guilty of rape last Thursday (24th August).
The 34-year-old has been bailed with conditions to appear at Winchester Crown Court for sentencing on 24th November 2023.
How can this lying piece of dirt be on bail awaiting sentence, he pleaded not guilty, text message proved him to be a rapist, and he was convicted of rape, will he turn up for sentence ??????

Well that gives him a few months to rape some more of his acquaintances! Allowing Bail for such a serious offence is a joke, but nothing unusual from our judiciary. I assume that he will not be getting a custodial if he is considered safe to walk the streets.. Bravo!
